CHARLIE FOXTROT - a novel about the Cold War, the Gulf War and the stupidity of war. CHARLIE FOXTROT is the story of Lieutenant Bennett, an army intelligence officer assigned to the 7th Cavalry in West Germany, during the final days of the Cold War. Bennett is the straight man, who through the looking glass, must interact with characters so bizarre, that only the army could manufacture them. Bennett must survive patrols across the East German border and sub-zero field exercises. He is forced to participate in absurd army intelligence investigations and is an eyewitness to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Just when Bennett thought he was going home, his unit is accidentally deployed to the Persian Gulf War. While there, things seem to spin completely out of control...

Great read, almost hated to put it down. Reminds me of a cross between MASH and CATCH-22. The characters are developed to the point you start feeling for them emotionally, and in some cases I could relates to people I knew when I was in the military.Product details

CHARLIE FOXTROT edition by Ray Starmann Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
An OK book. Mostly it was reminiscent for the old Army vets of Deutschland and Saudi Arabia/Iraq era.If you were there when the wall fell, you might get a kick out of the book.
As an army veteran I found this book to be hilarious. It reminded me of M.A.S.H. but even funnier than most of the M.A.S.H. episodes.
Charlie Foxtrot brought back memories of time in service. It was sometimes inane, serious, yet unpredictable - no matter who the character that was being described in the various chapters. An enjoyable read.
Are you sure this is a work of fiction? Seems like this book is a work of FACTION more than fiction. Really enjoyed this book. Brought back a lot of Cavalry memories!! My star function died, or would have given it 5 stars!
Sort of a "Catch 22" in the Cold War and Mideast terrorist era. Lots of dark humor. I was a "Cold Warrior" for 20 years, including a tour at one of the locations of the story. Veterans will really enjoy this book, I hope non-vets appreciate it too.
RS my hat is off to you. Anyone with the courage to write a war novel whether they are a veteran or not has given the time and effort to get the ducks in a row. It may not carry a lot of weight with those who did not serve, but it does with the ones who did.....ER
Interesting read of the military in the cold war days. Lots of humor and humorous events among the soldiers in the story which kept my interest as it evolved from cold war Germany to the Gulf war. Somewhat tedious reading at times but I enjoyed the book.
Great read, almost hated to put it down. Reminds me of a cross between MASH and CATCH-22. The characters are developed to the point you start feeling for them emotionally, and in some cases I could relates to people I knew when I was in the military.
